Draft Day Heartbreak For Villanova's Scottie Reynolds

Villanova's senior guard Scottie Reynolds is the unfortunate recipient of a dubious distinction according to the AP.

Villanova's Scottie Reynolds has become the first AP All-American since the NBA-ABA merger in 1976 not to be taken in the NBA draft. The 6-foot-2 senior guard was not one of the 60 players who heard their name called Thursday night in the two rounds of the draft.

The other four All-Americans (Evan Turner, John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins and Wesley Johnson) all were picked in the top five.

Luckily, it does appear that 'Nova coach Jay Wright and Reynolds were prepared for the possibility of him not being drafted.

Reynolds, a 6-foot-2 guard, said this week he won't even watch the draft.

"I don't have an ego that says if I don't get drafted, I'm going to be crushed," he said.

Villanova coach Jay Wright said Reynolds' size for a shooting guard could keep him out of the league.

"I think he's going to be in that after-40 group," he said. "Does someone want to take him or wait to get him as a free agent? I think he's going to be in that area."

Reynolds is sure to draw interest as an undrafted free agent and will likely end up on someone's summer league team. We'll keep you up to date.
