For anyone wondering whether Michael Vick’s travel restrictions will interfere with his job or prevent him going on road trips… rest assured. It won’t.
A person close to the Eagles told NFL.com the team isn’t worried that Vick won’t be able to travel during the season. “His restrictions will have no impact on his working or traveling with the Eagles,” the person said. “He has had restrictions since he joined the team as do all people on probation.”

NBC 10 is reporting that Michael Vick's probation officer is not allowing him to travel outside of Pennsylvania.
Michael Vick has to stay put and is not allowed to travel out of the state for now, according to NBC 10’s John Clark.
Clark said the Eagles backup QB is being denied traveling privileges and has already missed two scheduled appearances, according to his crisis manager Judy Smith.
Presumably, this is in response to the nightclub shooting incident a few weeks back. The travel restrictions have caused Vick to miss a few recent engagements including a football camp in Baltimore over the weekend. Vick will reportedly have to have his travel plans approved ahead of time. So other than away games, it seems like Mike is going to be staying close to home.
Just when you though the Vick saga couldn't get any more odd...

Several fans have re-posted links to several stories that are titled with various versions of “Prosecutor: Vick was in altercation before shooting.” The responses to the title have been what you might expect.
But did anyone read what the prosecutor said? Not only did the guy exonerate Vick, he played down any “altercation,” and actually ended by complimenting him.
First, here was what he said about the confrontation.
Bryant would not go into detail about the confrontation, but said there was no evidence that Vick was involved in “anything that would amount to aggressive or assaultive conduct.”
Here’s the rest of what he had to say about Vick.
“He’s an athlete and an entertainer, but he’s also a human being, and things that would tick you and I off would tick him off,” Bryant said. “But he extricated himself from those things and left with the help and encouragement of some of his friends and supporters.”
That sounds fairly positive to me…
Police have said Vick was not the shooter. Bryant said the investigation also showed that Vick “was not aware of whether or not anyone was going to be shot, was threatened to be shot, or anything to do with any of that business.”
IIn other words, the prosecutor just completely exonerated Vick. I’m no Vick lover, I still don’t fully understand his role on the team from a football perspective… but it really seems like people are stretching to make him a villain here. The prosecutor in this case literally had nothing but positive and supportive things to say about Vick… but that’s not the headline. If anything, what this prosecutor told the AP was the best piece of news from Vick’s perspective to come out yet.
I’m not going to compliment Vick for not shooting someone or congratulate him for doing what pretty much any normal person would in that situation(which is just leave)… but I’m not going to slam him or call for his head either. He just hasn’t done anything to deserve that.

In what appears to be the end of the Michael Vick birthday party shooting fiasco, Virginia Beach Police announced that they’ve identified the shooter. However, no charges will be filed in the case. Vick himself is not a suspect.
Here is the full statement released by police.
“Investigators were able to determine the identity of the shooter. Unfortunately because of the lack of cooperation from the victim, coupled with the reluctance of witnesses, the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, upon reviewing all of the evidence, has determined that no charges will be filed in this case at this time. Because the suspect will not be charged, his identity cannot be released by police. There are no other suspects in this case, including Michael Vick.”
Saying Vick “dodged a bullet” in this case might not be appropriate… but it’s not a bad description. It’s very unlikely that Vick will face any sanctions from the NFL or the Eagles at this point, but there’s little doubt that whatever leash Vick is on probably got a little shorter.

It was reported yesterday that Michael Vick’s name was being used to promote another “All White” party(the same event where the shooting happened). It was advertised that Vick would be there… However, he skipped the event and instead went to a barbecue in Philadelphia.
Obviously hosting another party open to the public just weeks after the last one ended badly would seem like a massively bad idea. Luckily Vick appears to have learned something.
His brother, Marcus Vick, did attend the event and appears to be the guy behind these parties. If you’ve been following this storystream, you’ll have also seen that Marcus appeared to be the source of all the trouble at the party in Virginia. It’s hard to tell someone that they should distance themselves from their own brother, but maybe Michael should think twice before going out with Marcus in public.

The Eagles have released this statement on Michael Vick.
Saturday, July 3, 2010 Statement from the Philadelphia Eagles: “Under normal circumstances, we would not issue a public statement regarding a matter still under investigation. However, due to the intense speculation that exists, we believe it is important to make a statement this afternoon regarding Michael Vick. “Following the incident that occurred in Virginia on the morning of June 25, Michael and his representatives promptly contacted law enforcement agencies, the Philadelphia Eagles and the National Football League. The Eagles were provided with very detailed information during that discussion as to what took place at the event. Those details have not changed in any way over the course of the last week. Our investigation to this point has confirmed and has been consistent with the information that was originally communicated to us. “Furthermore, any report or speculation that suggests the Eagles are considering releasing Vick are not true. We will continue to gather information and monitor the situation and we will not have any further comment until that process is complete.”

Michael Vick has released this statement.
“On June 25, 2010 I attended a birthday party held in my honor at The Guadalajara’s Restaurant in Virginia Beach, Virginia,” the statement read. "After I left the event, I learned that a man was shot outside the restaurant.“I want to assure everyone that I had nothing to do with that incident. I left the restaurant prior to it occurring and did not witness what happened.
“Following the incident, I reported it to the Philadelphia Eagles and to representatives of Commissioner Roger Goodell of the NFL . In addition, I cooperated with and answered any and all questions from Law Enforcement officials investigating this matter. My statements, from the beginning, explained that I was not there at the time of the shooting and had no knowledge of the events surrounding it. I have been completely truthful and fully cooperative from the very beginning and will continue to cooperate with Law Enforcement and the NFL as this investigation continues.”

The NY Post went down to Virginia Beach in hopes of getting some more details on this whole Michael Vick shooting incident thing. A few witnesses revealed more about what may have happened between Vick and the shooting victim. The victim, Quanis Phillips, was a co-defendant of Vick in his dog fighting trial and the terms of their parole dictated that both men not socialize with one another.
Apparently, Phillips ignored that.
Quanis Phillips, a co-defendant in Vick’s dogfighting case, flew into a rage when Vick and brother Marcus Vick told him early Friday to leave the 30th-birthday party at a Virginia Beach nightclub, witnesses said.
Part of the “rage” apparently involved getting some birthday cake on Vick.
Before leaving, Phillips slapped a piece of birthday cake off a female partygoer’s plate, splattering the face of the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback with frosting.“Michael didn’t react. I was surprised,” a witness at the bash said.
A witness did say however that Vick’s brother did get angry and appeared very agitated. At that point, most reports say that Vick left the party. Phillips however, continued arguing with people outside the club and was later shot in the leg.
So, there’s a few ways to look at this. If you believe the witness here, Michael Vick appeared to do everything you’d think a person in his position should do in the situation. A guy Vick was not supposed to be around showed up as an uninvited guest to his party and the man was asked to leave. When the man reacted angrily, Vick removed himself, his wife, and friends from the situation and left.
Of course, if the story ended there it wouldn’t have been news. The guy ended up getting shot. That’s where the details get fuzzy and that’s where witnesses start refusing to talk. If the sum total of Vick’s involvement in this whole incident was what this story reports, then it’s hard to say he did anything wrong. However, until police find out who shot Phillips and get that guy to talk we won’t know what if any involvement Vick had in the actual shooting. Until then, there’s going to be an understandable cloud of suspicion.

Virginia Beach Police spokesman Adam Bernstein said that Michael Vick was interviewed about the shooting incident.
“The case is still being investigated,” police spokesman Adam Bernstein said. "The case is currently assigned to a homicide detective. Over the last several days, numerous people have been interviewed by detectives. This afternoon, Michael Vick , along with his attorney, came to Virginia Beach Police Headquarters to speak with detectives. He answered the detectives’ questions.“The investigation into the identity of the shooter continues. No arrests have been made in the case.”
He also said that that there was no change in the police department's view of Vick in the situation. They still don’t regard him as a person of interest.
Vick’s lawyer said that the Quanis Phillips, the man shot in the leg, was an uninvited guest and had been thrown out of the party earlier.

Philly.com is reporting that the police in Virginia beach do not regard Michael Vick as a suspect or person of interest in connection with the shooting that occurred outside of a nightclub that had hosted a birthday party for him.
The good news for Michael Vick this afternoon might be that the Virginia Beach police say he is “of no interest to us” as they investigate a shooting that occurred early this morning outside a restaurant where Vick reportedly had been celebrating his 30th birthday.
Police also said that witnesses and the alleged victim in the case were “very uncooperative.”
It appears very unlikely that Vick will face any legal repercussions from the incident. However, it remains to be seen what if any action the Eagles or NFL could take. Roger Goodell doesn’t require the same burden of proof that a prosecutor or police do. The mere fact that Vick was connected in any way with an incident like this could be enough for him to act.
That said, you would imagine that the league or team would need some sort of tangible evidence of wrongdoing to suspend or cut Vick. Whether that be a witness that comes forward or a video that surfaces… Something.

Falcons’ WR Roddy White says that he and Vick had left the party before the fight broke out.
“We were already gone by the time that stuff started happening, so I don’t know what’s going to go on with that or whatever, but we didn’t have anything to do with it,” White said on Friday during a break in the youth football cam

There was a non-fatal shooting outside of a nightclub In Virginia Beach where a birthday party was being held for Eagles QB Michael Vick.
The alleged victim in the case, who was taken to the hospital in "good" condition, was actually a co-defendant of Vick's in the federal dog-fighting case that sent him to prison. The victim, identified as Quanis Phillips, was sentenced to 21 months in prison for his part in the dog-fighting ring.
Vick's attorney Larry Woodward said that Vick was neither involved in nor was he present at the time of the shooting.
"The reports that say someone was shot at his party are not correct. The shooting occurred outside the place," said Lawrence H. Woodward Jr., Michael Vick's attorney. "Mike is not involved in any way. Michael left somewhere around 2 a.m."
The Eagles have released a statement on the matter.
"We are aware of the incident that occurred in Virginia early this morning and are in the process of gathering all of the facts. Until then, we will not have any comment on this matter."
