Brian Westbrook Signs One Year Deal With 49ers

Former Eagle Brian Westbrook agreed to a one year deal with the San Francisco 49ers today. Westbrook goes to a team with a decent shot at the postseason and the 49ers get a backup for Frank Gore after learning earlier this week that 23 year old Glen Coffee was retiring.

The Eagles will see Westbrook this year when they visit San Francisco on October 10th. The Eagles will actually be playing the Redskins the week prior. Just a couple years ago, It would have been pretty hard to imagine seeing Brian Westbrook and Donovan McNabb as the opposition for two straight weeks... Of course, it would have been almost as difficult to imagine Westbrook relegated to backup status.

As much as we all would have liked to see Westbrook retire as an Eagle, it's nice to see that his career won't end the way it did last season.
