Lidge Saves It For Blanton, Phils Take Game Two 3-1

Stay connected for news and updates

Despite notching just three hits, the Phils stole another victory in San Diego behind the arm of Joe Blanton and three perfect innings from Jose Contreras, Ryan Madson, and Brad Lidge. Blanton’s been terrific since the All-Star Break, serving as a great 4th option after the Roy-Cole-Roy threesome. While the bats are cause of concern (3 runs or less in each of the past 6 games), Shane Victorino’s multi-hit day is nice to see.

The Phils look to complete the sweep tomorrow afternoon with Cole Hamels on the mound against fellow lefty Clayton Richard.

Full recap to come later.
