Penn State Basketball: Nittany Lions Stay Undefeated With 77-68 Win Over Long Island

The Penn State Nittany Lions are having a rough year after the athletic program was rocked by the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal that made national headlines.

Maybe no one bothered to tell Tim Frazier.

The Penn State point guard led his team to a 77-68 win over Long Island at the Bryce Jordan Center on Wednesday night, scoring 26 points with five rebounds, 10 assists, two steals and one block.

In other words, he had a helluva game.

The Blackbirds, who start the season 0-3, battled hard enough to leave the first half with the game deadlocked at 36 apiece; however, the Nittany Lions, who are now perfect through three, turned on the heat in the second stanza to finish out the game with an 11 point lead.

Long Island's Michael Culpo had 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists and one steal in a losing effort.

Penn State Basketball Looks To Stay Undefeated Tonight Against Long Island

The Penn State Nittany Lions aim to continue their unbeaten ways Wednesday night against Long Island (7 p.m., BTN.com, Penn State Sports Network).

Penn State beat Radford on Monday, 62-46, to move to 2-0. Tim Frazier led the Nittany Lions with 20 points and 10 assists for his second career double-double, also adding six rebounds. Frazier was Penn State's only player in double figures, shooting 9-14. Freshman Trey Lewis had nine points and Billy Oliver added eight. A strong Penn State defensive effort limited Radford to 34% shooting, while the Lions shot 45.3%.

Long Island enters the meeting with an 0-2 record after beginning the season with losses to Hofstra and Old Dominion. The Blackbirds fell 77-69 to Old Dominion on Monday despite a second-half comeback that cut a 13-point deficit to two. Michael Culpo scored 15 points to lead four Blackbirds in double figures.
