Temple Football Hosts Miami (Ohio) Tonight

The Temple Owls play host to Miami (Ohio) Redhawks tonight (Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011) live on ESPN/ESPN3 at 8:00 p.m. ET from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Nov 9, 2011 - The Temple Owls play host to Miami (Ohio) Redhawks tonight (Wed., Nov. 9, 2011) live on ESPN/ESPN3 at 8:00 p.m. ET from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Temple (5-4, 3-3 MAC) is looking to rebound from its disappointing loss to another team from Ohio after the Bobcats clawed their way to victory in last week's nail-biter in Athens. The 35-31 loss dropped the Owls into third place in the Mid-American standings, but a win tonight can push them right back into second.

That would come at Miami's expense, who are 3-2 in the conference and 4-5 overall. The Redhawks crushed Akron last week in prime time and are no doubt looking for a repeat performance when they travel to "The City of Brotherly Love."

Here's how they stack up:

Average yards/points per game: Temple (391.1/29) vs. Miami (349.8/22.2)
Turnover to sack ratio: Temple (10/14) vs. Miami (16/28)
Defensive yards/points allowed: Temple (291.9/12.8) vs. Miami (349.8/22.9)

Tonight's game is an interesting dichotomy in offensive attacks as the Owls average 258.3 yards a game on the ground (#8) while the Redhawks manage an anemic 78.7 per game. Yes, that's the worst in the country. The passing game is a different story, however, as Miami gets 271.1 yards in the air (#25) versus Temple, who pass for a mere 132.8 yards a game.

For the Owls to be effective, the formula is simple: Shut down the Redhawks passing game and run the football. Despite getting 13 points in the spread, this is a very winnable game for the home team.

Game Time: 8 p.m.
TV Schedule: ESPN
Online Stream: ESPN3.com
Location: Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
