The Drexel Dragons scored a key victory in the Colonial Athletic Association, defeating the first-place George Mason Patriots to improve to 11-5 overall and 3-2 in the CAA. They have now won nine of their last 10 games. George Mason dropped to 12-5, and 4-1 in the CAA.
Damion Lee paced the Dragons with 21 points on 8-for-14 shooting on the night. The rest of the team went just 13-of-44 from the field, including a 4-for-18 performance from Frantz Massenat, Drexel's leading scorer heading into the game.
The Dragons enoyed a big rebounding advantage, 36 to 27, leading to second chance scoring opportunities to offset the Patriots' better shooting. Forward Mike Morrison led George Mason with 10 points on 5-for-7 shooting. The rest of the Patriots' starters went just 8-for-32 forcing them to rely on scoring from the bench.
