The Villanova Wildcats could not keep a five-point lead at the half on Wednesday night against Louisville. The Wildcats fell to the Cardinals by a final score of 84-74 in Big East play. The loss snaps a two-game winning streak that breathed a little life into their conference hopes.
Nova led 44-39 at the half, but the Cardinals started to pull away early in the second half. Five Louisville players scored in double digits. For the Wildcats, Maalik Wayns, the team's leading scorer, lead the way with 19 points. He also had one rebound and two assists. James Bell and Mouphtaou Yarou were the only other Nova players to score in double figures. Bell led his team with 13 rebounds.
The Wildcats are now 10-11 on the season and 3-6 in the Big East. They host the Marquette Golden Eagles, their second top 25 team in two games, at Noon on Saturday.
