Most Philly area college basketball teams will be in action on Saturday.
The Villanova Wildcats (10-11, 3-6 Big East) kick things off when they host the No. 17/18 Marquette Golden Eagles (17-4, 6-2 Big East) at noon on Saturday at Wells Fargo Center. The Golden Eagles enter the game on the Big East conference's longest winning streak at 5 games. Villanova fell to Marquette 81-77 earlier this season. Villanova has the reigning Big East Player of the Week in Maalik Wayns and reigning Rookie of the Week in JayVaughn Pinkston.
Later at 4 p.m. at the Liacouras Center, the Temple Owls (14-5, 3-2 A-10) host the St. Joseph's Hawks (13-8, 3-3 A-10). The Big 5's most played rivalry will be on display again on Saturday as both teams battle for position in the Atlantic 10 standings. The designated Big 5 game between the teams is not scheduled until Feb. 25. Temple holds an 87-65 series advantage and is on a nine-game win streak against St. Joe's. Temple guard Ramone Moore leads the A-10 in scoring (17.2 ppg). St. Joe's guard Langston Galloway is second nationally in three-point percentage (60-119, .504)
