Behind 21 points form junior guard Maalik Wayns and 20 from junior guard Dominic Cheek Sunday the Villanova Wildcats snapped a three-game losing streak, as they beat the DePaul Blue Deams, 87-71, in a Big East Conference game at The Pavilion.
Junior forward Mouphtaou Yarou added 14 and freshman forward JayVaughn Pinkston 13 for the Wildcats (8-8, 1-3), who had lost their first three league games for the first time in 30 years. 'Nova led 48-36 at the half thanks to solid shooting (63.3-percent).
Sophomores Brandon Young and Cleveland Melvin led the Blue Demons (10-5, 1-2) in scoring, as they netted 22 and 19, respectively.
The Villanova basketball schedule now features the Wildcats hosting the No. 1-ranked team in the country, Syracuse Orange (17-0, 3-0), Wednesday (7 p.m. on ESPN2).

Behind 13 points from junior guard Maalik Wayns and a late 12-2 run, the Villanova Wildcats have a 48-36 halftime lead on the DePaul Blue Demons in a Big East Conference game at The Pavilion. DePaul's sophomore guard Brandon Young has a game-best 15 points.
The Wildcats (7-, 0-3 Big East) used five of Mouphtaou Yarou's nine points to jump out to an early 10-0 advantage. However, despite having their first basket come almost five minutes into the contest, the Blue Demons (10-4, 1-1) trimmed 'Nova lead to just one point with 10:11 remaining.
A 12-2 run near the end of the second half helped the Wildcats take a 12-point advantage into the locker room.
Junior guard Dominic Cheeks has netted 11 points for the Wildcats.
