Temple vs. UConn: Steve Addazio wary of Huskies defense

Eric Hartline-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Temple will be tested against the Huskies' highly ranked defensive attack.

Looking for a second straight Big East conference victory to open their first season as a return member to the conference, the Temple Owls will be sorely tested against a Connecticut Huskies defensive attack that has proven among the nation's best in the early weeks of the college football season.

Despite its 3-3 overall record, the Huskies have compiled the 22nd-ranked scoring defense and ranks sixth in total defense, giving up just 248.8 yards per game to opponents in its first six contests.

"Not a lot of people are running the ball well against them," Temple coach Steve Addazio told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "So you'd better be able to open that thing up and throw."

Temple running back Montel Harris has proven a threat on the ground recently, posting more than 130 yards in the Owls' victory over the South Florida Bulls. Harris's emergence will be tested against the Huskies' defensive attack.

If Harris is unable to break the Huskies' defensive front, the Owls will turn to quarterback Chris Coyer, who has passed for 540 yards through his first four games.
