The Adirondack Phantoms will open the 2012 regular season on Saturday night.
The Philadelphia Flyers American Hockey League affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms, will kick off the regular season on Saturday night when they host the Portland Pirates.
Immediately after hosting Portland, the Phantoms will open a four-game road trip that begins in Springfield on Sunday afternoon.
With the NHL lockout closing in on its dubious one month anniversary, the AHL will act as one of the few outlets for professional ice hockey in North America. Considering the amount of young players that played for the Flyers last season that are eligible to play with the team during the lockout (such as Sean Couturier and Brayden Schenn), the Phantoms will have an entertaining product on the ice.
Listed below is the opening games of the Phantoms schedule:
Saturday, Oct. 13: vs. Portland
Sunday, Oct. 14: at Springfield
Friday, Oct. 19: at St. John's
Saturday, Oct. 20: at St. John's
Friday, Oct. 26: at Albany
