BCS Rankings 2012, Week 8: Rutgers, Louisville, Cincinnati represent Big East

A trio of undefeated teams from the Big East found their way into the initial BCS Standings, with Rutgers, Louisville, and Cincinnati earning national ranking.

Three of Temple's Big East counterparts were ranked in the first BCS standings, while Alabama took the top spot in nearly unanimous fashion.

Some computers disagree about who should be the No. 1 team in the country, but the Crimson Tide's placement in the two human polls secured them the top spot. While both the Coaches poll and the Harris poll consider Oregon to be No. 2 behind the Tigers, Florida was placed highly enough by the computers that factor into the BCS Standings to take the second slot from the Ducks.

From the Big East, Rutgers, Louisville, and Cincinnati were placed No. 15, No. 16, and No. 21 respectively. Rutgers has great status in the computer polls to thank for its No. 15 slot, ranking as high as No. 10 in some algorithms.

Penn State is ineligible to be ranked in the BCS Standings due to the sanctions placed on them in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal. Ohio State would probably be in the top 10 of the poll were it not for the sanctions on their program, but instead the Big Ten does not have any teams in the poll.

Here's a look at the full standings:
