Eagles fans have been screaming all season for some accountability and finally, they got some. The Eagles announced today that Jason Babin has been cut.

"We appreciate everything that Jason has given this team over the last couple of years," said Andy Reid." We wish him all the best as he continues his career. By releasing him today, this gives us an opportunity to give more playing time to some of younger guys in the defensive line rotation."

It likely comes as too little too late, but Babin really typified the overpaid, under-performing nature of this 2012 Eagles team. After a season where he racked up an eye popping 18 sacks, Babin has managed just 5.5 this season. When you're a one trick pony as Babin is and you can't even perform that one trick... There's really no point in having you around.

Reid said that this move was made to give the younger guys more time, but make no mistake about it, this is not because those guys need more experience, it's because they're better players than Babin right now. Brandon Graham has been better in fewer snaps than Babin and rookie Vinny Curry looked a far better player in his debut last night. This is addition by subtraction.

Beyond just his play though, Babin had clearly worn out his welcome with fans. Earlier this month, he made headlines for a twitter tirade against Eagles fans for chants he didn't like at the stadium.

Nothing could really explain Jason Babin more than himself... So as a goodbye to Babin, I give you this.
