St. Joe's Vs. Richmond: Hawks Win 70-60

St. Joseph's Red Hawks beat the Richmond Spiders on Wednesday night by a final score of 70-60. The win takes away the sting of a weekend loss to crosstown rivals, the Temple Owls. It also gives the Hawks their second win in three games as they look to erase the damage done by a 1-4 run to end the month of January.

Richmond has been a thorn in the Hawks' side since 2009, the last time St. Joe's beat their fellow Atlantic 10 foes. Carl Jones, who joined the Hawks the season after their last win over Richmond, led the way with 16 points. He also had 11 rebounds, two assists and a steal. Sophomore forward Langston Galloway, the team's second-leading scorer after Jones, had 13 points to go with seven rebounds, five assists, two blocked shot and a steal. Halil Kanacevic led the team with 12 rebounds.

The win evens St. Joe's conference record at 4-4. For the season, the Hawks are now 14-9. They host LaSalle on Saturday.

St Joe's Vs Richmond: Game Time, TV Schedule And More

The Atlantic 10 is always one of the most contested conferences in the nation. This year has proved to be no exception.

The St. Joe's Hawks have a very important contest against the Richmond Spiders on Wednesday night in Virginia. The Hawks are coming off of a beating at the hands of Temple while Richmond suffered a similar fate against St. Bonaventure.

St. Joe's (13-9, 3-4) needs to find some consistency. After starting 2-1 in conference play the Hawks have dropped four of their last five overall and three of their previous four in the A-10. After Wednesday's game, St. Joe's will return home for a three game stretch against teams they're looking up at (La Salle, St. Louis and UMass).

Phil Martelli will be hoping for a great performance out of Carl Jones, who has been scuffling mightily as of late. Jones is averaging 16 points per game but hasn't had more than 20 points since New Years Eve against Harvard.

Richmond (12-10, 3-4) is also desperate for a victory. Whoever loses this battle just has another team to jump over in the race seeding going into the Atlantic 10 tournament in March. The Spiders will lean on the duo of Darien Brothers and Kendall Anthony who are averaging just under 29 points per game combined.
