St. Joe's Vs. Rhode Island: Hawks Win Again, 80-69 Over The Rams
The St. Joseph's Red Hawks used a big second half to erase a two-point first half deficit on their way to an 80-69 win over Rhode Island. It was the second win in a row for the Hawks, who were paced junior guard Carl Jones, their leading scorer.
Jones finished the game with 28 points, including a perfect seven-for-seven from the free throw line. Jones made nine of 13 shots from the field and added four rebounds, six assists and a steal in the effort.
Down 36-38 to start the second half, Jones quickly tied it with a layup less than a minute into the second frame. He then added two free throws for the lead. Rhode Island's Orion Outerbridge would tie it up again immediately after that, until Halil Kanacevic each posted four points to secure a lead that the Hawks would never relinquish.
C.J. Aiken and Langston Galloway both finished in double figures for scoring as well.
The Hawks have now won four out of their last five. Their two-game road trip continues on Saturday as they take on George Washington.
