The Philadelphia 76ers' losing streak ends at five after a dominant win on the road over the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday. Thaddeus Young scored 20 points off the bench, and Philadelphia held Detroit to just 31.6 percent shooting from the field in the 97-68 win.
The Sixers never trailed after the six-minute mark of the first quarter. They were played well inside defensively, recording eight blocks and holding rookie center Greg Monroe to 7-of-16 shooting from the field. Young had two blocks in addition to eight rebounds. The quicker Sixers also recorded 17 team steals, forcing 22 total Pistons turnovers.
Head coach Doug Collins left the game between the third and fourth quarter due to flulike symptoms. He was around for his team's big second quarter, however. The 76ers led by two points after the first quarter. By halftime, they led by 16 points.
Lou Williams scored 13 points on 6-for-12 shooting from the field. Jodie Meeks also had a nice game with 12 points and five rebounds. Monroe led the Pistons with 20 points and eight rebounds, and Rodney Stuckey pitched in 17 points in the loss. No other Pistons player registered in double digits.

The Philadelphia 76ers wil begin their second half of the NBA season Tuesday a bit shorthanded for a few more weeks, as center Spencer Hawes is reportedly out for at least another two weeks.
Hawes, who has missed 20 games this season and 19 of the last 20 with a strained left Achilles’ tendon, will have the walking boot on his left foot but at the urging of his California specialist, Dr. Richard Ferkel, will not play for at least another two weeks from this Friday, according to the Sixers.
Hawses visited with the Ferkel over the All-Star break. In his place the Sixers will most likely continue to start rookie Lavoy Allen at Center.
