La Salle found their way to a narrow 60-56 win over George Washington on Wednesday night, giving the Explorers a needed boost as they prepare for the conference tournament.
The La Salle Explorers held on to beat the George Washington Colonials on Wednesday night. La Salle turned around a two-game skid with a 60-56 win, putting them on the right side of .500 in the Atlantic 10 with one game left in the regular season.
Freshman Jerrell Wright led the team with 15 points and six rebounds. Wright was one of three players in double figures for the Explorers. Earl Pettis had 14 points and six rebounds, and Tyreek Duren had 12 points. Ramon Galloway led the team with five assists.
George Washington had three players in double figures, led by David Pellom off the bench with 16. He also led his team with 11 rebounds.
The win gives the Explorers some much-need momentum ahead of the conference tournament which starts next week. A win to wrap up the regular season on Saturday, with a date against St. Bonaventure could bolster their standing in the conference as well.
