La Salle Vs. St. Joe's Final Score: Hawks Beat Explorers 70-66

The St. Joseph's Hawks gained some ground in the Atlantic 10 Conference standings with a victory over the La Salle Explorers today. The win improves the Hawks' record to 15-9 overall and 5-4 in the conference. The loss drops La Salle to 17-7 and 6-3 in conference play. The Hawks are seventh in the conference, but only trail La Salle, along with Xavier and Temple by one game for the top spot.

The Hawks had a balanced scoring attack with six players scoring at least nine points, led by Halil Kanacevic's 18. The Explorers had three players in double figures, led by Earl Pettis, who scored 17 on 18 shots.

The Hawks next game is scheduled for February 8 against the St. Louis Billkens. The Explorers next is also scheduled for the eight, on the road against the Richmond Spiders.

La Salle Vs St. Joe's: Explorers Face Hawks In Big 5 Battle At The Palestra

The La Salle Explorers look for their fifth straight victory on Saturday at noon during a Big 5 battle against St. Joe's at the Palestra.

La Salle has been on a tear, ripping off four straight wins, all in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Explorers ousted Charlotte 85-72 on Wednesday behind 22 points from Tyreek Duren and 18 from Jerrel Wright to move into sole possession of first place in the A-10. The win was La Salle's 14th straight at Tom Gola Arena. With 12 wins at home so far this season, the Explorers have already established a school record.

St. Joe's rebounded from a tough five-game stretch to notch a road victory at Richmond on Wednesday. The Hawks had lost four out of five, but Carl Jones had 16 points and 10 rebounds as his team evened its Atlantic 10 Conference record at 4-4.
