Rookie center Nikola Vucevic netted a career-high 15 points Saturday to help the Philadelphia 76ers down earn a road victory over the Atlanta Hawks, 98-87, in an Eastern Conference showdown at the Philips Arena, The 76ers (17-7) avoided back-to-back losses, while the Hawks (16-8) lost their second straight.
Philadelphia used a 20-point third quarter to earn a double-digit advantage heading into the fourth, but Atlanta climbed back to within nine points, 94-85, with 1:45 to go. The 76ers put away the Hawks thanks to back-to-back basket by guard Lou Williams, who finished with 14 points.
Forward Thaddeua Young added 14 points and forward Andre Iguodala tallied nine, 10 assists and eight rebounds for Philly, which hosts the Los Angeles Lakers Monday (7 p.m.).
The Hawks' Jeff Teague led all scores with 21 points, while Joe Johnson chipped in with 16.
