Flyers Vs. Capitals: Philadelphia Continues Home Stand

The Philadelphia Flyers continue a five-game home stand against the Washington Capitals Thursday night.

The Philadelphia Flyers continue their home stand Thursday night against the Washington Capitals.

Philadelphia started the five-game stand Sunday with a 3-2 overtime win against the Pittsburgh Penguins and continued it Tuesday by falling to the Florida Panthers, 2-1.

The Flyers are 8-2-1 during their last 11 games, dating back to the beginning of March. Led mostly by the goaltending of Ilya Bryzgalov, the Flyers have allowed just 14 goals over the past 10 games. But as the Philadelphia Inquirer cautions, Philadelphia's offense has slowed recently, scoring one goal or fewer in six of the past 14 games.

Washington outlasted the Detroit Red Wings 5-3 on Monday night. The Capitals reversed their trend of slow starts, pouring in three first-period scores before holding on for the victory. Alex Ovechkin led the Capitals with two goals and Mike Knuble, Keith Aucoin and Jason Chimera each added their own tallies.
