The La Salle Explorers concluded their 2011-12 regular season on Saturday, and did so by defeating the St. Bonaventure Bonnies by double figures, extending their winning streak to three. The win marks the 20th of the season for the Explorers – their first 20 win season in 20 years.
La Salle enjoyed a balanced scoring attack on Saturday with four players in double figures, led by Tyreek Duren with 19 and Earl Pettis with 16. Jerrell Wright and Devon Wright chipped in 10 a piece. Pettis was also able to affect the game defensively with five steals, causing five of the Bonnies 19 turnovers.
Although the Explorers were out-rebounded and out-scored from beyond the arch they were able to keep the Bonnies at arm's length by converting eight more free throws and shooting a much higher percentage from the field.
La Salle's next task is to win the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament, earning a NCAA Tournament bid.
