Bracketology 2012: Drexel Sweating Out Selection Sunday On NCAA Tournament Bubble

Will 19 straight wins ultimately prove futile? Or will the Drexel Dragons be rewarded by the NCAA tournament selection committee for such a consistent regular season?

The answers will come Sunday night after Selection Sunday concludes. Drexel is firmly on the NCAA Tournament bubble after falling to VCU in the Colonial Athletic Association title game, despite entering that bout on a 19-game winning streak.

Entering the final day of conference tournaments, the Dragons are predicted to miss the NCAA Tournament by ESPN's Joe Lunardi, whose latest bracketology labels Drexel one of the first four teams out. SB Nation's latest edition of Bracketology paints a different picture, with the Dragons chosen as one of the last four teams in.

Either way, Bruiser Flint's team will sweat out Selection Sunday.

Selection Sunday 2012: Time, TV Schedule And More

Selection Sunday is when 68 NCAA basketball teams sit on pins and needles (some on much larger pins and needles than others) as they anxiously await the decisions the Selection Committee has made on where everyone will play, who everyone will play, and whether some teams will get to play at all.

Temple is expected to be a fifth seed – but could drop following their Conference Tournament loss – while St. Joe's and Drexel both sit on the bubble.

When: March 11 at 6 PM EST

TV Schedule: CBS

Where: Banker's Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis

Broadcast Team: Jeff Hathaway, Jim Nantz, Clark Kellogg, Steve Kerr, Greg Gumbel, Greg Anthony and Seth Davis

Immediately following the traditional Selection Sunday show on CBS, TruTV will air a new show called 'Hardcore Brackets' discussing reasons and details why certain teams were selected and why some where not. That show will feature Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith, among others.

Braketology 2012: Drexel Out?

The Drexel Dragons are a team firmly "on the bubble" for the NCAA Tournament. Their 19 game winning streak might be all for naught, because they lost to VCU in the CAA championship game.

On Friday, ESPN's Bracketologist, Joe Lunardi had Drexel as one of his "last four in" and Chris Dobbertean of SB Nation had the Dragons firmly in the tournament as one of his "last four byes". However; things seems to have changed a bit in 24 hours.

As of Saturday, Chris Dobbertean has dropped Drexel from "last four byes" to "last four in" and Joe Lunardi has dropped the Dragons out of his tournament completely as one of his "last four out".

All the Dragons can do is watch and wait to see if their name will be called on Selection Sunday.

Bracketology 2012: Drexel In, St. Joseph's Out

The Drexel Dragons saw their 19 game winning streak snapped on Monday, when they lost to VCU in the 2012 CAA championship game, putting their NCAA Tournament hopes in jeopardy.

Now all the Dragons can do is watch and wait for Selection Sunday, when they will find out whether or not they will be participating in March Madness.

Joe Lunardi of ESPN has Drexel as one of his "last four in," which is always a frightening place to be as things change hourly, with all the conference tournaments games going on.

Chris Dobbertean's latest 2012 Bracketology projection also has Drexel playing in the tournament, as one of his 'last four byes'.

Neither Bracketologist has St. Joe's in the tourney. Lunardi has them under his 'next four out'. The Hawks will have to win the Atlantic 10 Tourney to get in.

Bracketology 2012: Temple Confident, Drexel Barely In In Current Projection

Things didn't shake out according to plan for Drexel in the CAA conference tournament, as VCU captured the crown and the automatic invite to the NCAA tournament. That leaves the Dragons hopeful that their fortunes will turn and they'll be invited to the Big Dance come Sunday.

According to SB Nation's Chris Dobbertean's latest bracketology projection, Drexel will in fact make the tournament, earning a spot in one of the "first four" matchups. Dobbertean has Drexel playing Northwestern in the West Regional 13 seed "first four" game, which will be played next Tuesday night in Dayton, Ohio.

And while Drexel checks in on Dobbertean's list of last four teams in, Temple sits pretty as a four seed in the Midwest region. Dobbertean has Temple pegged for a first round matchup against Southern Conference champion Davidson in Portland. Temple plays UMass in the quarterfinals of the A-10 Tournament on Friday afternoon.
