The US women’s Red team won the 4×400 meter relay in the USA Vs the World challenge at the Penn Relays on Saturday. The team was stocked with Olympians Francena McCorory, Allyson Felix, Natasha Hastings and Sanya Richards-Ross.
The Jamaican team of Shericka Williams, Novlene Williams-Mills, Sophia Smellie and Kaliese Spencer came in second nearly 5 seconds behind.
The USA Blue team took third with a time of 3:27.08. That feature Dee Dee Trotter, Jessica Beard, Moushami Robinson & Monica Hargrove. Great Britain, Nigeria & Canada rounded out the field.
Allyson Felix, along with Tianna Madison, Bianca Knight & Carmelita Jeter also won the women’s 4×100 meter relay this afternoon as a part of the USA red squad with a time of 42.19. They edged second place Jamaica by less than a second.
The Penn Relays event has been held annually since 1895 and is the oldest track and field event in the United States.

The final day of the 2012 Penn Relays begins Saturday at 7 a.m. with several levels of the 10k racewalk. Action will conclude following the college men's 4x400 championship of America.

With the Olympics little more than three months around the corner, the Philadelphia Inquirer notes that Saturday's "USA vs. the World" events will take on even more significance than during a normal year.
"It's definitely time to line up and put our best team together and get the stick around," Carmelita Jeter, the 100-meter gold medalist in last year's World Track and Field Championships, said Friday. "I believe the USA team is training really hard right now, and the Penn Relays is definitely the first place that we want to get the stick around and get this chemistry together so that we can build for London 2012."
