The Philadelphia Union had all the opportunities Sunday to pull off an upset over the first-place New York Red Bulls, but couldn't capitalize in a 3-2 loss at PPL Park in Chester, Pa. Philly's Lionard Pajoy scored a pair of goals, however, the Red Bulls were still able to earn a come-from-behind victory that helped them earn a share of first place in the Eastern Conference standings.
The Union choked away a 2-1 lead in the second half, as New York's Markus Holgersson (68th minute) and Kenny Cooper (78') each scored goals. Philadelphia did have multiple opportunities in the closing moments, but couldn't get the ball to cross the goaline.
Somehow, at the 85-minute mark, the Union couldn't find the back of the net at the ball volleyed back-and-forth in front of the net. And then during stoppage time New York's rookie goaltender Ryan Meara made a critical save to ice the game.
