May 18 is 'Fast Friday' at the Indy 500.
The 2012 Indianapolis 500 is still a week and a half away, but the events leading up to the race itself always make for a fun few weeks. This Friday, May 18, is known as 'Fast Friday'. The complete schedule is as follows, via the official website of the Indy 500:10 am - Public Gates Open.
11 am - Business of the 500 Q&A - Coke Stage, Plaza
12 pm - 6:00 pm - Indianapolis 500 Practice - Track
6:15 pm - Qualification Draw - Coke Stage, Plaza
6 pm - Public Gates Close
Following 'Fast Friday', six events will take place before the 96th running of the Indianapolis 500. Those events include: Pole Day qualifying for the 500, Armed Forces Bump Day, 500 Festival Community Day, Practice and Qualifying for the Firestone Freedom 100, Miller Lite Carb Day and the Firestorm Freedom 100, and Legends Day, presented by Shell V-Power.
