2012 Indy 500: Marco Andretti Quickest Driver On Fast Friday

Marco Andretti was among five drivers who eclipsed 226 mph during a lap at today's Fast Friday practice at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Andretti also turned the fastest lap of those five drivers at 227.540 mph.

Andretti will be going for the pole position tomorrow during Indy 500 qualifying. His grandfather Mario Andretti took the pole at Indy in 1966, 1967 and 1987.

Marco Andretti said after his day on the track

"Why not try and go for the pole?" Marco said after practice. "Today was a big day for us. We woke the car up today. It's going to come down to a couple tenths of a mile tomorrow, I really believe that.

"A win here would mean the world to me." (via Indianapolis Star)
