Stay connected for news and updates

I'll Have Another has won the 138th Kentucky Derby. Mario Gutierrez was the jockey – who was riding in his first career Kentucky Derby – Doug O'Neil was the horse's trainer and J. Paul Reddam is the owner.

I'll Have Another began the day with 12/1 odds to win the Derby, and fell to 13/1 race time approached.

The favorite for most of the week – Bodemeister – led seemingly most of the race, before I'll Have Another turned on the jets in the final stretch to take the lead and ultimately win the race. Bodemeister finished second and Dullahan ended up finishing third.

This marks the first time in Kentucky Derby history that horse in the 19th pole position won the race.
