According to a source to LeBrun, any package that the Flyers would put together for Ryan would have to center around Brayden Schenn, who the Flyers are apprehensive to let go of. Instead of Schenn, the Flyers would counter with winger James van Riemsdyk as their main piece.
While the Flyers seem to prefer Rick Nash of the Columbus Blue Jackets, Ryan wouldn't be a bad consolation prize. He's three years younger than Nash, has a shorter contract, and would be less of a cap hit than Nash.
