Saturday's pool play for the 2012 USA Sevens Rugby Collegiate Championships at PPL Park in Philadelphia, Pa. is in the books, and the 16-team field is now dwindled down to eight teams that will play in a bracket tournament Sunday. The survivor of the three-round tournament will be declared the champion.
Unfortunately, the two local programs -- Penn State and Temple -- failed to advance to the second day. Despite earning a dominating 36-7 victory over Temple (0-2-1), Penn State finished Day 1 with a 1-2 record, a total not good enough to move on.
In their bracket, Life University (3-0) and Wisconsin (1-1-1) moved on, while Dartmouth (3-0), Delaware (2-1), Arizona (3-0), Texas (2-1), California (3-0) and Navy (2-1) moved on in their respective brackets.
Play resumes at 9:50 a.m. ET, but for those who can't make it to the championships and want to watch it, here's the TV information:
2-4 p.m. ET: NBC Sports Network
4-6 p.m.: NBC
More information on the event can be found on its official website, www.usasevenscrc.com.
