The Philadelphia Phillies snapped a six game losing streak as they took the opening game of their three game series against the Baltimore Orioles, winning 9-6 Friday night in Camden Yards. Joe Blanton gave up five runs over 6.2 innings, but he had strong run support from the Philadelphia offense, which scored nine runs in four innings off Baltimore starter Jake Arrieta.

It was a six run second inning that broke things open for Philadelphia, starting with a two run homer run by Mike Fontenot. Jim Thome picked up an RBI with a ground rule double, and Shane Victorino followed that with a two RBI double. Carlos Ruiz capped the inning with a single, scoring Victorino. Game two of the three game series is Saturday afternoon at 4:05pm EDT.
