Roy Halladay Injury Update: Phillies Pitcher To Return From DL, Start Tuesday

For almost two months the Philadelphia Phillies have been without one of their more effective and constant weapons -- starting pitcher Roy Halladay. All that changes Tuesday, when Halladay is set to come off the disable list and make his first start since May 27. Halladay has been recovering from a latissimus dorsi strain that he suffered in an outing against the St. Louis Cardinals.

In his first start back, Halladay will be asked to shutdown one of the National League's toughest lineups, as he will start against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Philly ace is expected to oppose Nathan Eovald, who's 1-5 with a 4.21 ERA.

Before his injury, Halladay was 4-5 with a 3.98 ERA. For the Phillies to get back into the postseason race, the Philly ace will probably need to be a bit better than that.

Phillies At Rockies Preview: Philly Looks For First Series Win In Month Of July

Losing has become the norm for the Philadelphia Phillies recently. And for the first time in awhile that trend could be turned around, as the Phils will have a chance on Sunday (3:10 p.m. ET on PHL 17) to collect their first series win since late June. Cole Hamels (10-4) will take the mound for Philadelphia as he opposes Colorado Rockies rookie pitcher Drew Pomeranz (1-3).

The Phillies (38-51) are hoping to get another solid offensive effort, which came Saturday and helped lead Philly to a 8-5 victory that ended a five-game losing streak. Currently, the Phillies have lost 12 of their last 14 game and are sitting in the basement of the NL East Division standings.

Hamels, who is pitching amidst trade rumors, will be making his first start since the All-Star break, which featured him pitching the All-Star Game.

Meanwhile, Pomeranz has allowed just one unearned run in his last two starts. Pomeranz was one of the big pieces in last year's trade with the Cleveland Indians, who acquired pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez.
