Phillies Vs. Rockies Final Score: Philadelphia Ends Losing Streak, Beats Colorado 8-5

The Phillies put an end to a five game losing streak on Saturday night, defeating the Colorado Rockies by a final score of 8-5.

Philadelphia got off to a hot start, putting up four runs in the top of the first inning. Their scoring spree started with a single by second baseman Chase Utley that sent home outfielder Shane Victorino. A few batters later, Carlos Ruiz belted his 14th home run of the season, scoring Utley and first baseman Ryan Howard.

Colorado rallied at multiple points throughout the game. They put up two runs in the third inning thanks to RBIs by outfielders Dexter Fowler and Carlos Gonzalez. The Phillies made it 6-2 after a two-run double by starting pitcher Vance Worley, but the Rockies closed the gap to 6-5 two innings later after Phillies relief pitcher Brian Sanches gave up a three-run homer to catcher Wilin Rosario.

Philadelphia sealed the victory in the ninth, as Shane Victorino tripled to score shortstop Jimmy Rollins. Chase Utley later added his second RBI single of the day to give the Phillies some breathing room. Jonathan Papelbon picked up his 19th save of the season.

Vance Worley picked up his fifth victory (he is 5-5 overall) after pitching 6.2 innings, allowing eight hits and two earned runs. Jeremy Guthrie was given the loss for Colorado.

The win improves the Phillies to 38-51 on the season while the Rockies fall to 34-53. The third and final game of the series is set to begin on Sunday at 3:15 p.m. ET.
