The Philadelphia Phillies have announced that Cole Hamels will not be making his scheduled start on Wednesday night against the New York Mets due to a stomach illness. Instead, right-handed minor league pitching prospect Tyler Cloyd will be recalled from the club's Triple-A affiliate in Lehigh to make his Major League debut.

Cloyd has dominated the minor leagues, registering a 3-0 record with a 1.80 ERA at Double-A Reading before being promoted to Triple-A where he assembled a 12-1 record with a 2.35 ERA.

In fact, the 25-year-old Bellevue, Nebraska native excelled to such an extent that he was named the International League's Most Valuable Pitcher on Tuesday. He is the first Phillies prospect to receive the award since Brandon Duckworth earned the honor in 2001.

Cloyd was also named to the International League's post-season all-star team.
