Phillies Vs. Diamondbacks: Game Time, TV Schedule, Probable Pitchers

The Philadelphia Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks conclude its three-game series Sunday (1:35 p.m. ET on PHL 17) at Citizens Bank Park. Veteran lefty Cliff Lee (2-6) will try and help the Phils' take the finale and the series, which is knotted at a game apiece, as he opposes Arizona's Trevor Cahill (9-9).

Despite dealing a bit of an off-the-field dilemma, Lee, who as placed on waivers earlier this week, will try and earn just his second win of the season. In his last outing, Lee put together a seven-inning, no-run performance against the Washington Nationals.

Meanwhile, Cahill allowed just one run over six innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Phillies Vs. Diamondbacks Final Score: Philadelphia Defeats Arizona 3-0

The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday night, shutting out their opponents by a final score of 3-0.

Starting pitcher Roy Halladay, reliever Josh Lindblom, and closer Jonathan Papelbon combined for a four hitter en route to the victory. Halladay picked up the win after pitching seven innings, allowing three hits while walking one and striking out five. Papelbon was awarded his 24th save of the season.

Halladay and company got their run support from a number of sources. The Phillies went up 1-0 in the third inning after a solo home run from catcher Erik Katz. An inning later, Katz was walked with the bases loaded, scoring first baseman Ryan Howard. In the eighth, Philadelphia made it 3-0 after a single by left fielder Domonic Brown that sent home third baseman Kevin Frandsen.

The win improves Philadelphia's record to 48-59 overall, while the Diamondbacks fall to 55-52. The third and final game of the series will be played Sunday at 1:35 p.m. Eastern Time.

Carlos Ruiz Sent To 15-Day DL With Plantar Fasciitis

Philadelphia Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz has been placed on the 15-day disabled list due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot. An MRI later revealed a partial tear and will force Ruiz to miss the next four to six weeks.

Plantar fasciitis is the pain and inflammation of the plantar fascia, which is a thick band of tissue that runs across the bottom of your foot from the heel bone to the toes.

Ruiz was having his best season with the Phillies before his trip to the disabled list, batting .335 with 14 home runs and 58 RBI, both career highs. Ruiz also made his first All-Star game this year in Kansas City.

To replace Ruiz on the roster, the Phillies have called up utility infielder Hector Luna. Luna has played in 26 games for the Phillies this year, batting .246 with two home runs and 14 RBI. Brian Schneider is expected to be the starting catcher while Ruiz is on the sidelines

Phillies Vs. Diamondbacks: Saturday Game Time, TV Schedule And Probable Starters

The Philadelphia Phillies look to rebound after Thursday night's loss to the Washington Nationals as they begin a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks Friday night at Citizens Bank Field.

Roy Halladay (4-6, 4.33 ERA) will be on the mound for the Phillies, who lost his last three decisions dating back to May 22. Although Halladay was credited with the loss in his last start against the Atlanta Braves, he looked better on the mound giving up six hits and three runs in six innings of work.

Arizona will send out Joe Saunders (5-7, 3.62 ERA), who has lost three of his last four decisions, including his last outing against the New York Mets. Saunders however had a decent outing, giving up eight hits and four runs in seven innings of work.

Phillies Vs. Diamondbacks Final Score: Philadelphia Loses Series Opener 4-2

The Philadelphia Phillies lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks Friday night, dropping the series opener by a final score of 4-2. Kyle Kendrick made the rare start for Philadelphia after scheduled starter Joe Blanton was traded to Los Angeles Dodgers. He threw four innings, giving up three runs on four hits while striking out two.

The bullpen had a substantial task but were up to the challenge: Jeremy Horst, B.J. Rosenberg and Antonio Bastardo combined for four scoreless innings. Their effort would go to waste, however, as Philadelphia's offense came up short. The Phils left seven on base and went 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position. Only a solo home run from Chase Utley and a sacrifice fly from Nate Shierholtz went on the board for Philadelphia. Josh Lindblom gave up a solo home run to Jason Kubel in the ninth, but with the offense unable to produce the damage was minimal.

The Phillies drop to 47-59 with the loss. They'll look to bounce back in Game 2 of the three game series, scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
