Darin Ruf, the Philadelphia Phillies prospect in Reading, won the Eastern League MVP and Rookie of the Year awards on the same night that he would later club his record-breaking 38th home run of the season, continuing his decorated season Thursday night.

Ruf's homer, which broke Ryan Howard's previous total, was launched to very, very far to left field, according to the Reading Eagle's Mike Drago:

After the historic homer, play was briefly stopped when Reading general manager Scott Hunsicker presented Ruf with an honorary bat to commemorate the accomplishment, according to Drago.

Along with the 38 home runs, 20 of which that were hit in the month of August, reports CSNPhilly.com, Ruf is batting .321 after Thursday night with 101 RBIs.
