@FakeWIPCaller on why the Eagles must start the people's choice, Nick Foles

The Eagles this week named rookie Nick Foles their second-string quarterback, beating out Mike Kafka and Trent Edwards. But that's not good enough: Foles, not Michael Vick, should be this team's starting quarterback.

There are so many reasons why Foles deserves to be the starter. We've all seen play in the preseason, leading the Eagles to a perfect record and looking poised, confident and accurate.

But even more importantly, Foles is a Philly guy, a lunchpail guy with an impressive work ethic. He plays the game the right way. He's one of us. He gets it.

And best of all, he doesn't have the history of injuries, of choking- not to mention other things- that Vick does. And we just know Vick's going to get hurt in Week 1 anyway, so why not pull the trigger now?

Start Nick Foles, Andy. I've got a feeling he's going to be the best Eagles quarterback since Jeff Garcia.

Other Philly sports takes:

Deadspin today published a vicious, hateful attack on the Eagles and their fans- but at least they mentioned my name this time.

Nice of Jimmy Rollins to take the Ugandan Little League World Series team around town. But why couldn't he persuade any of them to defect?

I already ordered my #53 Eagles "Turbo Bird" jersey. Did you?

Donovan McNabb- still out of the league.
