Eagles Vs. Cardinals 2012: Reaction As Eagles Fail To Score A TD, Fall To Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals prevailed Sunday in a battle of 2-0 teams, beating the Philadelphia Eagles, 27-6. The Eagles struggled offensively, failing to score a touchdown and only recording three drives longer than 35 yards.

With the Cardinals moving to 3-0 for the first time since 1974 and Eagles head coach Andy Reid leaving the door open for a quarterback controversy, there was plenty of reaction from SB Nation's two blogs covering the teams, Eagles blog Bleeding Green Nation and Cardinals blog Revenge of the Birds.

First, on the topic of starting quarterback Michael Vick, Bleeding Green Nation said:

Does Reid saying "we'll evaluate things as we go" mean that Vick is on the hot seat? There is no doubt that Vick has not been playing great- his interceptions and fumbles are one of the main reasons the Eagles have lost one game and almost lost two more. Still, Vick has led the Eagles to come from behind wins- which makes it unlikely Reid is ready to pull the plug on Vick- or even considering it.

Bleeding Green Nation also broke down a number of things, both positive and negative that could be taken away from the loss:

What was there to like most about this game? For Eagles fans, it is probably that is is over.

The Eagles were a complete no-show in Arizona yesterday and put up zero fight in their 27-6 loss to the Cardinals. It was hard to watch, and unlike other weeks where a comeback seemed possible, it was hard to have any faith that would happen by halftime.

In Arizona, Revenge of the Birds looked at five positives and five negatives from the game. Topping the list of positives was the play of former Philly quarterback turned Cardinal, Kevin Kolb:

That was easily Kevin Kolb's best game as an Arizona Cardinal. The numbers aren't going to knock anyone's socks off (17-22, 222 yds, 2 TDs), but just from watching the game you could tell Kolb was feeling it. ... After going through an entire pre-season of neither Skelton nor Kolb grabbing the reigns, we may finally be witnessing the end of the controversy. My money is on Kolb getting the start against Miami next week.

Arizona hosts the Miami Dolphins next Sunday, Sept. 30, at 4:04 p.m. ET. The Eagles will host the New York Giants that same day at 8:20 p.m. ET.
