U.S. Open Results 2012: Weather Halts Play, Roddick, Djokovic, Sharapova To Resume Wednesday

Rain has stopped play again on Tuesday at the U.S. Open, halting the round-of-16 marquee matchup between No. 20 Andy Roddick and No. 7 Juan Martin del Potro with the two locked in a first-set tiebreaker.

Their meeting, along with a bevy of other matches, will resume Wednesday after rain stopped play for the night at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.

An earlier match from the day session between Marion Bartoli and Maria Sharapova was suspended all the way through the night session, and will also resume tomorrow. Bartoli was up 4-0 in the first set on Sharapova.

Novak Djokovic had just started his match with Stanislas Wawrinka, as the No. 2 was leading 2-0 in the first set when the rain hit.

Earlier action saw No. 4 David Ferrer and No. 1 Victoria Azarenka advance to next-round action at the season's final major.
