Eagles Add 1 Year To Trent Edwards' Contract, Darryl Tapp Takes Pay Cut

The Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly added a year onto the contract of backup quarterback Trent Edwards, a source told CSNPhilly.com's Reuben Frank. Edwards, who beat out Mike Kafka for the Eagles' No. 3 job during the preseason, will earn the league minimum for a six-year veteran in 2013, a figure that slots in at $715,000.

Edwards, who signed a one-year deal worth $754,960 on Feb. 24, 2012, will serve as Philly's emergency quarterback, in line to play only if starting quarterback Michael Vick and rookie backup Nick Foles get injured.

Meanwhile, Frank also learned that defensive lineman Darryl Tapp's restructured contract is worth $1.75 million less than the original deal:

The Eagles approached Tapp on Saturday, final cut day, and told him they could only keep him on the roster if he agreed to reduce his 2012 base salary, an unwieldy $2.575 million, down to the NFL minimum. Tapp, a reserve defensive end, agreed.
