The Temple Owls look to improve to 2-0 on Saturday afternoon against Maryland.
Week 2 of the college football season kicks into high gear Saturday afternoon and the Temple Owls will look to build on an impressive showing last week in the Mayor's Cup, turning their attention to ACC foe Maryland. The Owls whipped up on the Terps last season in College Park, and they'll try to duplicate that blowout at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday.
While Temple defeated their Week 1 FCS opponent, Villanova, by 31 points, the Terps struggled mightily at home against William & Mary. Randy Edsall's club needed a late fourth-quarter touchdown to eek out the 7-6 win.
Maryland's struggles under Edsall and last year's decisive Owls win have flipped things a bit in this home-and-home series. The Owls are now double-digit favorites on Saturday, with the spread set at 10. The Terps are starting a true freshman under center, Perry Hills, and offense looked particularly sluggish last week. Temple may have to play without transfer running back Montel Harris, who's dealing with a hamstring issue that came up last week.
Kickoff is scheduled for Noon ET and the game will be nationally broadcast on ESPNU.
