James Harden finished with 33 points in the victory over Philadelphia.

There wasn't much defense Wednesday night in Houston, as the Rockets defeated the 76ers, 125-103. Houston shot 56 percent from the field in the victory.

Leading the way was James Harden, who scored 33 points in the win for the Rockets. Accounting for most of that was his 17-for-18 shooting from the free throw line.

Helping Harden carry the load was Omer Asik. The big man finished with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Toney Douglas came off the bench to add 17 points, as well.

In the defeat, Nick Young had 21 points for Philadelphia, while Dorell Wright contributed 20 points.

The win is the fourth in five games for the Rockets. They will look to continue their momentum on Saturday on the road against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Meanwhile, the Sixers have lost five straight games and eight of their last 10. They will try to get headed back in the other direction at home against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday.

Philadelphia falls despite a big night from Jrue Holiday.

The Philadelphia 76ers received 26 points and 9 assists from Jrue Holiday, but it wasn't enough, as they fell to the Chicago Bulls, 96-89, on Wednesday night.

The biggest difference in the game came at the free throw line. While Chicago went 24-for-26 from the stripe, Philadelphia only attempted 11 free throws and made five of them.

Chicago's front line had its way with Philadelphia on Wednesday. Joakim Noah had 21 points and 7 rebounds, while Luol Deng finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds.

While Holiday led the way for Philadelphia, the 76ers also got a strong game from Evan Turner. The former Buckeye had 16 points and 8 rebounds in the defeat.

The 76ers, who are now 12-10 on the season, will look to recover on Friday night when they travel to Indiana to take on the Pacers. Philadelphia is currently hanging on to the seventh seed in the East.

Villanova won an ugly game against Penn, 68-55.

It wasn't pretty, but Villanova picked up a 68-55 win over Penn on Saturday night. The Wildcats won their fifth game of the season in a contest that was marred by 52 fouls.

The fouls resulted in 71 combined free-throw attempts in the game. Both teams made more shots from the free-throw line than they did the field.

Villanova sophomore Achraf Yacoubou led all players with four made field goals. He also led Villanova with 13 points.

The win was a vital one for a Wildcats team that needed a step in the right direction. Villanova had lost four of its last five games before defeating Penn. One of those losses was to Penn's Ivy League rival Columbia.

The Wildcats will continue their tour around the Big 5 on Dec. 11 at home against St. Joseph's. Meanwhile, the Quakers, who have won just twice this season, travel to Delaware on Dec. 21.

The Sixers hold New Orleans to 33.3 percent shooting from the field for the game.

It may not have been a very high-scoring game, but the Philadelphia 76ers didn't mind. They won a defensive struggle over the New Orleans Hornets, 77-62.

Philadelphia's defense was in top gear on Wednesday night. The Hornets failed to score 20 points in any quarter and shot just 33.3 percent from the field for the game.

In a poor offensive game for almost everyone on the floor, Jrue Holiday was stellar. He finished with 14 points and 12 assists on the evening. Evan Turner also had 14 points for the 76ers.

Only one Hornets player could muster double-figures in scoring, and he barely did. Al-Farouq Aminu finished with a team-high 10 points despite shooting 3-for-11 from the field. He did have 16 rebounds from the many missed shots in the game.

The 76ers, who are now 2-2 on the season, are back in action on Friday when they face the Boston Celtics.

Nittany Lions will attempt to bounce back after loss to Ohio State.

It might be a season that won't end with any postseason games, but Penn State is still looking to finish strong. As the schedule enters November, the Nittany Lions are coming off of a loss for the first time since Sept. 8.

They will try to bounce back from that loss to Ohio State with a trip to Purdue. It appears to be a recipe for success as the Boilermakers have lost four straight games and have an overall record of 3-5.

Penn State and Purdue faced off last year in a game that the Nittany Lions won, 23-18. The Boilermakers have had little recent success against the Nittany Lions, not winning a game against them since 2004.

Penn State would need to win its final four games to equal its win total of nine from 2011.

Game time: 3:30 p.m. ET

TV schedule: ESPNU

Odds: Penn State is favored by 3.5 points (according to OddsShark)

The Owls travel to Louisville to take on the Big East's lone unbeaten team.

The Temple Owls will have their hands full on Saturday when they travel to Louisville to take on the unbeaten Cardinals, who rank No. 10 in the country.

While Louisville is undefeated, it has not played a very rigorous schedule. The Cardinals have yet to play a ranked team this season and have won their last six games by 10 points or less.

Temple is a struggling football team, though. The Owls have lost four of their last six games, including a 47-17 drubbing from Pittsburgh last week.

A win is necessary for Temple to get back in the conference title race. Louisville and Rutgers are already two games ahead of the Owls in the loss column.

The two teams last played each other in 2006. It was a blowout with Louisville winning, 62-0.

Game time: 12:00 p.m. ET

It wasn't the return to Philadelphia that Andre Iguodala was hoping for. His Denver Nuggets fell to the Philadelphia 76ers, 84-75, in their season opener on Wednesday.

Iguodala was traded to the Denver Nuggets in the offseason as part of the Dwight Howard deal. Philadelphia's most notable returns were Andrew Bynum, who did not play on Wednesday, and Jason Richardson, who finished with 10 points.

In his return to Philadelphia, Iguodala's shot was off the mark. He was just 5-for-13 from the field and finished with 11 points.

Philadelphia got a big game off the bench from Spencer Hawes. In 31 minutes of action, Hawes finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Jrue Holiday also had a double-double, finishing with 14 points and 11 assists.

The Nuggets were led in scoring by Ty Lawson, who finished with 16 points.

The 76ers will be back in action on Sunday night when they travel to New York to play the Knicks.

Philadelphia welcomes Andre Iguodala back to town.

It hasn't been an ideal homecoming for Andre Iguodala so far in his return to Philadelphia. At halftime, his new team, the Denver Nuggets, trail the 76ers, 46-38.

Iguodala has a modest 7 points and 3 rebounds, and is just 3-for-10 from the field.

The early story of the game has been the surprising production Philadelphia has gotten from its bench. Spencer Hawes and Dorrell Wright have come off the pine to lead all scorers with 12 points each.

Wright has done half of his damage from the free throw line, where he has made all six of his shots. One of the new Sixers acquired in the Iguodala trade, Jason Richardson, has six points at the half.

The Nuggets are getting some bench production of their own from Andre Miller, who leads the team with 8 points. This is Philadelphia's only home game before hitting the road up to New York on Sunday.

There has been a lot of turmoil at the top of the leaderboard in the second day of The Barclays. A 2-under through seven holes has Nick Watney now on top at 8-under.

An eagle on the fourth hole gave Watney a lead he has yet to concede.

The leader after Thursday, Padraig Harrington, has been headed in a different direction. Harrington has dropped from 7-under to 2-under with five bogeys in his first eight holes.

Tiger Woods remains in a strong position at 3-under for the tournament. He is at even-par through six holes on Friday.

West Chester native Jim Furyk finished his first two rounds at 2-over. With a projected cut of even-par, his tournament is likely over.

It looks like Jim Furyk's weekend is over at The Barclays. The West Chester native shot a 2-over in his second round, leaving him with that score for the tournament. The projected cut is even-par.

Furyk has three birdies and five bogeys in his round on Friday.

Another veteran golfer had a little more luck in his second round. With a 4-under on Friday, Vijay Singh now leads The Barclays with an overall score of 7-under. Padraig Harrington, who had led the tournament at 7-under after the first round, started his day with a bogey on Friday.

Tiger Woods is just four shots off the lead at 3-under. He will begin his second round shortly with a tee time of 1:06 p.m.
