Howard Smith-US PRESSWIRE

From Corey Seidman of CSN Philly: The Drexel Dragons have had some heartbreak early, losing their first two games of the season in overtime to Kent State and Illinois State.

Leading by two with 11 seconds to play, senior guard Derrick Thomas stepped to the foul line in hopes of giving Drexel a two-possession lead. But he missed the front end of a one-and-one, allowing Illinois State to tie the game and eventually win in overtime, 86-84.

It was the Dragons’ second overtime loss in six days; they lost by four in OT at Kent State last Friday.
