According to CSN Philly's Jim Salisbury, the Philadelphia Phillies are interested in Vernon Wells and Scott Hairston.

Ruben Amaro Jr. is still looking to bolster the Philadelphia Phillies' outfield -- and the Philadelphia general manager is rumored to have two options on the table.

According to CSN Philly's Jim Salisbury, the Phillies have interest in signing free agent outfielder Scott Hairston, and also have interest in trading for Los Angeles Angels outfielder Vernon Wells.

Hairston would almost certainly be the preferred target, as the free agent outfielder hit 20 home runs in just 377 at bats last season with the Mets. Hairston hits lefties particularly well, and hit .286/.317/.550 against them in 2012.

Trading for Wells would be a bit trickier. Salisbury notes that the Phillies would need the Angels to pick up a significant amount of Wells' salary. Wells is owed $42 million dollars over the next two seasons, and also has a no-trade clause that would need to be waived if any type of deal is to be consummated.

Wells hit just .230/.279/.403 for the Angels in 243 at bats in 2012.

Salisbury's latest article also illustrates how difficult it's been for Amaro to find an outfielder this offseason, and is well worth the read.
