College Football Rankings: Penn State Sits At #12 In Both Polls

Penn State football had the weekend off, but it ended up being a very productive one anyway. The Nittany Lions moved up four slots in the AP poll and three slots in the USA Today coaches' poll to come in at #12 on both.

Nov 6, 2011 - Penn State football had the weekend off, but it ended up being a very productive one anyway. The Nittany Lions moved up four slots in the AP poll and three slots in the USA Today coaches' poll to come in at #12 on both. The blue and white sat at #16 in the BCS standings last week and we'll get to find out how they've improved there when the latest rankings come out later today.

Joe Paterno said last week that his guys needed this past weekend off to get caught up on studies.

"We have a couple of kids that really have some tough courses and papers due and things like that." said Paterno. "That I think a little time off from football will give them an opportunity to get caught up"

Penn State is currently undefeated in the Big 10 with a two game lead over Ohio State and Wisconsin, both of who the Nittany Lions face on the road in the final two weeks of the season. Next week, the Nebraska Cornhuskers will visit Happy Valley.
