Penn State Recruiting: Nittany Lions Lose Former Commit Tommy Schutt To Ohio State

Stay connected for news and updates

Tommy Schutt, a five-star defensive tackle from Illinois in the Class of 2012, originally committed to Penn State during the summer of 2011. According a report (via Allen Trieu's Twitter), Schutt has now decommitted from Penn State and committed to Ohio State. The Buckeyes were high on Schutt's list during the beginning of his recruitment. He had backed off when Jim Tressel was fired. Schutt eventually committed to Penn State after a visit. Once the Jerry Sandusky scandal broke, Schutt said he would wait to see how the situation developed.

Schutt is Urban Meyer's first commit since he became the head coach at Ohio State. Schutt made an official visit to Columbus this past weekend.

Penn State is still continuing their coaching search after firing longtime head coach Joe Paterno.
