Penn State Recruiting: Defensive Tackle Jamil Pollard Commits To Nittany Lions

The Penn State Nittany Lions landed their first recruit since the Jerry Sandusky scandal broke when Jamil Pollard committed on Friday (via ESPN). Pollard announced his decision at the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl.

Pollard is a 6-4, 285 pound defensive tackle from West Deptford High School in New Jersey. He is a three-star recruit who had offers from Alabama, Boston College, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina and Rutgers.

Pollard has an official visit to Penn State scheduled for Jan. 13. This is his second commitment to Penn State. Poor grades caused the school to pull his offer in July.

Since the scandal broke, the Nittany Lions lost out on three former commits: Tommy Schutt (committed to Ohio State), Joey O'Connor and J.P. Holtz. Noah Spence, who originally gave the Nittany Lions a look, also decided against Penn State and committed to Ohio State.
