2012 NFL Draft: Devon Still Projected In Top 10

Penn State standout Devon Still has been getting plenty of attention lately. The 6-foot-5, 310 pound defensive tackle has shown scouts and coaches alike his ability as both a run stuffer and pocket crusher.

In Draft Countdown's recent mock draft, Still is being projected as the Carolina Panthers pick at 8th overall. He would make a lot of sense in this slot for a few reasons.

Most experts feel that Still would be a better fit in a 4-3 defense than a 3-4. On top of that, Carolina coach Ron Rivera made his bones as a defensive coordinator and would love nothing more than a stud on the D-Line.

Secondly, the Panthers desperately need help on defense. Carolina saw a huge offensive boost with Cam Newton at the helm but still struggled to win games with such a porous defensive unit. With Still clogging up the middle - especially against the run - Jon Beason and company can make some more plays.

Devon Still looks like just the type of player most teams can build a defense around. It will be interesting to watch how the coming months shake out.
