Penn State has landed a nice recruit in running back Mark Allen.
The Penn State Nittany Lions got some good news on Wednesday morning, with the news that DeMatha Catholic running back Mark Allen has decided to join the folks at Happy Valley, according to philly.com.
The 5'7, 185 pound back committed to Penn State despite having a bevy of suitors including the West Virginia Mountaineers, Wake Forest Demon Deacons and Maryland Terrapins.
Allen is now the first member of the 2014 Penn State recruiting class.
Allen's high school head coach, Elijah Brooks, said that Allen always had his sights set on the Nittany Lions.
"He really wanted Penn State all along," Brooks said. "He was hoping this day would come for a long time. He couldn't be happier."
Brooks went on to talk about Allen's personality, saying that he's a jokester.
"And I mean that in the best way possible," Brooks said, with a laugh. "But when it comes down to it, he's one of the hardest workers I've ever seen. He's a competitor."
