A four-game winning streak has helped the Penn St. Nittany Lions football program earn a bit of national attention. After defeating the Northwestern Wildcats, 39-28, on Saturday, the Nittany Lions (4-2, 2-0 Big Ten) earned a vote in the latest AP Poll, released Sunday morning.
Penn State used a 22-point fourth quarter to beat then-No. 24-ranked Northwestern in Beaver Stadium. The loss dropped the Wildcats out of the AP Poll. The Nittany Lions and Wildcats were two of six Big Ten teams to either receive votes or be ranked in the top 25.
The Ohio St. Buckeyes were the highest-ranked Big Ten program, as they moved up to No. 8. The No. 25 Michigan Wolverines were the only other league member to be ranked. Meanwhile, the Michigan St. Spartans and Nebraska Cornhuskers each received votes.
